The fifth year of WordCamp is behind us and you can now watch with us how it went on Saturday 24 February at VŠE.
Unfortunately, we do not have any statistics available yet, but the queue for registration was perhaps 30 minutes after the start. The organizers try every year to come up with a solution that would get rid of the queues, but they still haven’t come up with anything that works.
We used a large number of people at m2 and distributed To-Do sheets with the Freela motif . Where you had to complete a few mini-tasks and spice up the WordCamp a bit .

Lectures
There were 5 talks for developers and 5 talks for regular specific database by industry users and then you could choose one of 6 workshops. Before that, you could still catch 5 case studies, from topics like how to bag a woman to Bitcoins…
In short, the speakers and organizers prepared over 21 different topics for us to learn from.
The new EU directive called GDPR has been attracting a lot of interest in recent days, so it’s no wonder that Petra Dolejšová’s lecture filled almost the entire room. Wherever Petra is, there is fun and the visitors always have a good time and get involved in the events. It was the same at the 11th Affiliate Conference in Brno.
From the lectures for developers
We visited the room where Martin Šimeček gave a lecture about how he got WordPress into the cloud, specifically into Azure from Microsoft. There was a lot of useful information in the lecture, so hopefully a recording will appear as soon as possible, as it would make for a separate article. Definitely an interesting way to use the Cloud for WordPress.
Networking
WordCamp isn’t just about lectures, it’s a great opportunity to meet people who are interested in the same issues because they use the same editorial system.
When you had a problem, you had the opportunity to visit the Happiness Bar , where a “WordPress Genius” was waiting to help you with all the problems that bother you. Hopefully someone didn’t mistake it for marriage counseling.
It can be seen that the community around WordPress is growing every year and we are curious if it will surpass last year’s attendance, when 380 participants arrived at the conference and had the opportunity to attend 14 lectures and 2 workshops.

As is already a custom, if not a rule, at the conference, the After-party ends, where you have the opportunity to talk about WordPress, marketing or anything else over a cold beer. For reasons of protecting the privacy of all participants, we prefer not to publish any photos.
Conclusion
Unfortunately, he will not forget this day also for the reason that we beaten 6:4 by Canada in hockey at the Olympics, and that unfortunately did not save Ester Ledecka’s second gold in parallel slalom on a snowboard. WordCamp locker room manager Filip Podstavet and Karel Dytrych watched the match from inside the locker room.
